CCCC MS 2 Discusses the Byzantine sources for the figure style in the Bury Bible, CCCC MS 2. It is convincingly compared with the early twelfth-century wall paintings of Asinou in Cyprus, which present a linearised version of Constantinopolitan style. It is suggested that Western artists, as in the Bury Bible, may have been influenced by such relatively provincial versions of Byzantine art.
