- Description:
- CCCC MS 233 is a compendium of grammatical, didactic and devotional works copied in a cursive hand of the last quarter of the fifteenth century. Texts contained in the codex include Alanus ab Insula (Alain de Lille) (c. 1128-1202), Paruum doctrinale (Liber parabolarum), excerpts from the Doctrinale magnum of Alexander de Villa Dei (c. 1170-1240), a verse treatise on grammar and William de Montibus (d. 1213), Poeniteas cito. There are no clues as to how the manuscript, possibly a university student's commonplace book, came into Parker's possession.
